Don’t let the compact size of the West Highland White Terrier fool you. The westie is a sturdy, spunky little terrier that loves to romp and play.
Westies often display the typical tenacity and cleverness of a true terrier with their larger-than-life attitude that makes the breed so charming. These traits are often affectionately referred to as “westitude”.
Due to their heritage as a hunting terrier, westies love to chase small animals and vermin. Although they are quick to bark and give chase, they are friendlier and easier to manage than some other terriers.
Training can be a challenge with the dynamic terrier temperament, but their faithfulness and intelligence means that with patience and consistency, they can become well-trained loyal family pets.
